But according to the 2021 census for England and Wales, 238,210 people were classified as personal assistants, secretaries or typists, roughly 0.9% of the workforce. In the US the Bureau of Labor found 1,785,430 secretaries and administrative assistants in 2023, around 1.1% of the workforce.
