High intake of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) is linked to lower bone mineral density and a 10.5% increased risk of hip fractures for every 3.7 extra daily servings. A 12-year study of 160,000 people found the impact is strongest in those under 65 and individuals with a low BMI.
